FAQs

How do solar panels actually work?

Solar panels are made of highly conductive materials. When the sun’s rays hit the solar panels, the reaction creates direct current (DC) electricity. It then passes through an inverter and into your property’s wiring system to become alternating current (AC) electricity, which is what most homes and businesses use.

What happens on cloudy days?

Your solar panels won’t produce as much energy as they do during clear days, but as long as they have direct, unobstructed access to the sun’s UV rays, they are still doing their job.

Is solar reliable enough to power my home or business?

There are more than 2 million solar installations in the United States alone. Solar power is the most abundant energy source on Earth and with 300+ days of sunshine in Colorado every year, it is a great solution for those wanting to limit their use of fossil fuels.

How much will I really save on my electricity bill?

The average cost of electricity in the U.S. in 13.2 cents per kilowatt hour. The average cost of using solar energy is 0.0031 cents per kilowatt hour. It does depend on other factors such as your usage and where you live, but the goal is to offset over 50% of your current electricity bill.

How does net metering work?

Just as your current electricity usage is metered, once you switch to solar, you will still be metered for what you use but also for how much you generate. The amount you produce over what you use is given back to you as credits to lower your electricity bill.
